Cavil, the Dissident Reindeer
Every year, Cavil writes Santa to express dissatisfaction with how Christmas is run. He complains about the inequity of giving the best gifts to rich kids, and Barbie and pink science kits for girls, and failure to file flight plans, and sustainability considerations in toy manufacture. Santa hears about low pay and poor labor conditions in the “frozen sweat shop,” and the seasonal nature of the work that leaves elves without income 7 months of the year. Cavil worries about patent concerns of duplicating consumer electronics without paying licensing fees, fearing that Santa will be sued.
This year’s letter closed with a hope that Cavil might find antler wax in his stocking on Christmas morning.
